Electrician

HOURS OF WORK:
7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday
HOURLY RATE:
$39.13/hr as per Collective Agreement
START DATE:
As soon as possible
DUTIES:
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations, Manager of Operations – Utilities, and Chief Electrician, the incumbent will assist with inspecting, repairing, and maintaining the City’s electrical systems.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

Checks vehicle and equipment. Service with fuel, oil, air, coolants and all other pertinent items; reports any irregularities and fills out appropriate forms.

Keeps work area, vehicle and all equipment clean and ready for use.

Observes all safety precautions and requirements as required by WorkSafe BC, the City and other regulatory agencies, including the City’s work along procedure.

Performs all electrical work related to the operation as directed by the Manager.

Uses diagrams, manuals and electrical equipment to troubleshoot.
-
Draws electrical sketches and performs record keeping.
-
Must be current on all electrical COEs applicable to the organization.

Installs and works from scaffold, ladder and bucket truck.

Performs new construction, maintenance and repair of electrical systems.
-
Install, repairs and maintains seasonal decorations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Grade 12
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:
-
BC class 5 driver’s license with air brake endorsement (class 3 preferred)
-
Journeyman Electrician with BC Safety Authority certification
-
Class B Field Safety Representative status with Contractor’s license
-
Confined Space Awareness training (considered an asset)
-
High Voltage ticket (preferred)
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the operation of bucket trucks, power and hand tools, line equipment, small engine tools, various types of instrumentation, computer equipment, diagnostic equipment, safety equipment, personal protective equipment, and communication equipment.
Will be working with various types and sizes of electrical materials and supplies, low and high voltage power systems, seasonal decorations, all types of AC/DC equipment, including motors, controls, generators, repair and replacement parts, and cable.
Qualifications must be outlined with verifications of education/certification attached
