The GIS Analyst I works with GIS systems to collect, analyze, and visualize spatial data. This includes base data collection and management, supporting intermediate/senior GIS Analysts in project delivery for each of our GIS products at Canacre.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop high quality custom maps and reports.
- Convert data (KMZ/KML, CAD, raster, GDB, shapefiles, etc) and conduct GIS analysis.
- Support intermediate/senior GIS Analysts by creating, editing and managing data for a variety of projects.
- Perform basic data analysis and spatial queries.
- Conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures on mapping and data they produce before senior or project manager review.
- Address and resolve issues relating to project and/or data.
- Provide maps, data and geographic information for various projects and reports.
- Create, analyze and maintain vector, raster and tabular data and databases while maintaining GIS best practices and department standards
- Liaise with Canacre departments to deliver quality service.
Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post secondary education in GIS, Cartography, Geography, Civil Engineering, or related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years professional experience in GIS.
- Educational or Professional experience with ESRI Suite of products and its extensions, including online mapping software and field tools.
- Experience with industry standard software, including, but not limited to: Global Mapper, QGIS, Garmin, Trimble, Google Earth and AutoCAD.
- Digitizing, editing, and performing queries in ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, and relational databases.
- Online tool development in the Esri suite of products (Portal and ArcGIS Online), including Field Maps and Survey123.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
- Python and Esri Arcade language.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A keen attention to detail.
- A basic understanding of the importance of projections, coordinate systems and datums.
- An understanding of how to integrate CAD and GIS data.
