As Manager, Accounting at Hiive, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and evolving core accounting operations, ensuring rigorous internal controls, and guiding the team through complex transactions and scenarios in a rapidly growing and changing environment.
Reporting directly to the Controller, this position will be crucial in elevating team performance by providing hands-on mentorship and establishing and maintaining best-practice guidelines for the entire accounting cycle.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Would Include
- Managing and overseeing the team’s expense corporate credit card program and management system, ensuring timely reporting, compliance, and accurate data.
- Driving the research, documentation, and conclusion of complex technical accounting matters, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
- Reviewing reconciliations and journal entries, ensuring timely and accurate monthly variance analysis and resolution of discrepancies.
- Providing oversight of the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions, ensuring efficient collections and vendor payments.
- Assisting in overseeing the month-end and year-end financial closing process, ensuring deadlines are met efficiently and financial records are closed accurately.
- Monitoring system integrations, maintaining financial data integrity, and troubleshooting issues that may arise.
- Working with external advisors and auditors to ensure compliance across financial reporting and tax.
Required Skills
- CPA designation required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a start-up or fast-growing environment.
- Ability to leverage technology, with a strong commitment to data integrity and experience driving efficiencies through automation and system improvements.
- Strong financial operations management skills, particularly managing a high-volume of transactions.
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience researching, documenting, and concluding on complex technical accounting matters, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
- At least of 2-years experience managing all or part of the month-end process.
- Experience with NetSuite is an asset.
