Job Title: Material Handler
Location: Pickering, ON
Work Hours: 9 AM to 5 PM
Compensation Range: $19 to $23/hour
About the role:
The Material Handler supports the efficient and compliant operation of the warehouse by coordinating the receipt, inspection, and storage of materials. This role is responsible for verifying and labeling incoming shipments, ensuring all receipts are accurately reconciled with documentation, and supporting quality assurance clearance processes. The position maintains detailed and accurate inventory records, assists with cycle counts and audits, and ensures all cannabis and high-value materials are handled, routed, and stored securely and in accordance with company SOPs.
The Material Handler also plays an active role in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment through daily housekeeping, proper waste management, and adherence to safety and security protocols. Additional responsibilities include preparing outbound shipments, assisting with equipment handling, and supporting production material pulls. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable to shifting priorities, and committed to upholding compliance and operational standards
Responsibilities:
- Support receiving activities in labelling materials and reconciling physical receipts against receipt documentation
- Support the process of quality assurance clearance for items received.
- Thorough sanitization of received materials before transferring through airlock
- Accurate Inventorying of received material
- Identify cannabis or other high value shipments, communicate and route/re-route their arrival appropriately
- Support the accurate maintenance of records of items received through physical paperwork or data entry
- Transfer, distribute and store received materials, sorted by client
- Compile and maintain inventory records
- Participation in the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse through a ‘clean as you go’ mindset
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the outdoor waste disposal bins
- Assist in internal audits and cycle counting as required
- Accurately pull and stage production material orders using manual BOM pick tickets and a manual pallet jack.
- Operate a pallet jack, wrap, stage, and load pallets on carrier trucks.
- Crating or uncrating of large equipment orders
- Packaging any non-cannabis outbound orders, using shipping software to arrange shipments
- Assisting with physical handling of shipments of cannabis
- Ensure the secure state of warehouse is maintained
- Assist in the offloading and loading of hydrocarbon/cylinder shipments in the outdoor hydrocarbon storage area
- Assist in the minor repair of equipment.
- Strict adherence to SOPs
- Flexible and adaptable to priority changes.
- Perform other assignments as required.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED, plus 12 months related experience and/or training.
- Basic alphanumeric and data entry skills.
- Basic hand tool operation
- Ability to continuously stand and walk, as well as frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and occasionally sit, climb or balance.
- Exposure to seasonal elements of heat and cold, as well as dust and noise
- Ability to occasionally team lift and/or move over 50 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and consistently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional handling of receipt or shipments in our yard
Must be willing to undergo a background check in accordance with local laws and regulations. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
