About us
Coalition is the world's first Active Insurance provider designed to help prevent digital risk before it strikes. Founded in 2017, Coalition combines comprehensive insurance coverage and innovative cybersecurity tools to help businesses manage and mitigate potential cyberattacks.
Opportunities to make an impact with bold thinking are real—and happening daily at Coalition.
About the role
The Automation & Integrations team provides the backbone of Coalition's Security product offerings by building the platform upon which customers safely and conveniently connect Coalition to their internal data. This role is at the intersection of data engineering, product, security and partnerships. You will lead a team of talented and driven engineers responsible for building and maintaining robust, scalable, and reliable data integrations, primarily in Go running on AWS. Your work will directly enable our product teams to build new features and create value for our customers by providing a single, consistent source of truth for external data.
Additionally, you will work closely with our Incident Response teams to automate and streamline their processes by helping to define bottlenecks and build replacements for manual processes that slow down our ability to scale our Security business.
This is a high-impact role that requires a blend of technical expertise, people management skills, and strategic thinking. You'll work closely with stakeholders to define requirements, define platform architecture, and ensure our platform remains agile and performant.
Responsibilities
- Lead a Team: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of fully remote backend engineers across the US, Canada and Europe, fostering a culture of ownership, operational excellence, and continuous learning.
Drive Integrations: Oversee the entire lifecycle of third-party data integrations, from initial technical discovery and scoping to implementation, monitoring, and maintenance. - Improve Efficiency and Automation for our Incident Response teams: Lead a group of engineers to iterate on and automate our security business processes.
- Technical Strategy: Define the technical vision and roadmap for the data integration platform, making key architectural decisions that ensure scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure Data Quality: Implement and enforce data quality standards and validation processes to ensure the integrity of all ingested data.
- Operational Excellence: Champion operational best practices, including robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response for all data pipelines and services under your team's ownership.
- Manage 3rd Party API Partners: Act as the primary technical point of contact for our third-party data providers, ensuring that integrations meet both our technical requirements and our providers' capabilities.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with product managers to translate business needs and feature requirements into technical specs. Partner with our security and legal teams to ensure all data handling is compliant with industry regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
- Management Experience: Proven experience as a team lead or manager for a software or data engineering team. You know how to coach, mentor, and grow engineers with various technical backgrounds and expertise.
- API & Integration Expertise: Hands-on experience with API design, consumption, and authentication/authorization. You're familiar with the challenges of integrating with diverse third-party APIs and managing user credentials.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience building distributed systems in a cloud environment.
- Communication: Extremely strong written and verbal skills.
- Problem-Solving: The ability to solve ambiguous, cross-functional problems and make sound technical decisions with an eye toward long-term maintainability and business impact.
Bonus
- Experience working in the Security and Cybersecurity markets
- In-depth knowledge of AWS infrastructure, CI/CD
- Experience working with data at scale and data collection techniques
