Senior Electrical Designer
About the role
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Electrical Designer with a P.Eng. license to lead the design and development of electrical systems for industrial equipment manufacturing in GTA, ON
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design of manufacturing equipment, including power distribution, motor controls, PLCs, HMI, sensors, and automation systems.
- Prepare, review, and stamp detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA, UL, and other industry standards relevant to equipment manufacturing.
- Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and production teams to develop integrated designs.
- Oversee electrical component selection, vendor evaluation, and technical specifications for equipment builds.
- Conduct electrical load calculations, safety analysis, and risk assessments.
- Support equipment assembly, testing, and troubleshooting on the shop floor.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior designers and technicians.
- Review electrical bills of materials (BOM) and support procurement processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for product efficiency, reliability, and safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing.
- Minimum 7–10 years of electrical design experience in an equipment manufacturing or industrial automation environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, and equipment certifications (CSA, UL, CE).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar design tools.
- Experience with PLC/HMI programming and integration (Rockwell, Siemens, or equivalent).
- Hands-on troubleshooting and commissioning experience in manufacturing environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
