About the role

THE ROLE

As a member of the peopleCare home leadership team, the Assistant Director of Care will collaborate with the nursing staff to ensure an advanced standard of clinical resident practice and care outcomes. Accountable to the Director of Care, this position will exhibit a role model in care provision through mentorship and leadership.

This posting is for a Full-Time schedule, Assistant Director of Care - Temporary 6 Month contract position with the expected end date of December 31st, 2026.

Reports to: Director of Care

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Complete assigned duties as directed by Director of Care/Director of Nursing.

· Ensure mandatory clinical programs are carried out as per peopleCare policies and procedures.

· Assumes the lead for specified mandatory programs as delegated by Manager lead.

· Ensures education and resources are available to the nursing department.

· Acts as a resource to nursing department.

· Participates in performance appraisals for members of the nursing department.

· Assumes responsibility for the nursing department in the absence of the Director of Care/Director of Nursing.

· Participates in quality program and monitors and tracks indicators as delegated by Department leader.

· Ensures staff maintains a safe workplace environment through implementation of safe work practices.

· Develops a personal performance plan including education and quality assurance in consultation and discussion with managerial lead.

· Assists with counseling and discipline of all nursing staff as per manager lead.

· Provides leadership for evidence-based practice.

· Communicates nursing staff issues to the Director of Care/Director of Nursing as required.

· Assists with hiring nursing personnel including PSW, RPN, and RN staff.

· Keeps abreast of new trends in the field of LTC.

· Compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.

· Compliance with peopleCare policies and procedures.

· Other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS

· Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.

· Previous nursing experience, preferably in a Long-Term Care capacity.

· Previous leadership and/or supervisory experience.

· Annual CPR recertification.
