POSITION SUMMARY:
The Child and Youth Counselor is responsible for service delivery to children, youth and families. This is in accordance with the WOCRC Vision, Mission, Guiding Beliefs and the Health Equity and Inclusion lens. The Child and Youth Counselor is responsible for in house and outreach services delivered to the diverse needs of children and youth and families in the Goulbourn, Kanata, and West Carleton communities.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTI
ESProvide Direct Servi
ce Provide initial contact to all new child and youth counseling clients of the WOCRC, establish rapport, assist in identifying needs and provide information about service
s; Provide crisis intervention services through telephone contacts and on a walk-in basi
s; Provide brief intervention counsellin
g; Provide short term counselling using evidence based technique
s. Connect clients with appropriate internal and community resource
s; Assist clients in accessing desired services. May include facilitating concrete services such as child care, transportation, et
c; Assess level of risk and provide follow-up as require

QUALIFICAT
IONS• Child and Youth Care Practitioner and a minimum of 2 years direct work experience with children, youth and families; or a university degree in a related field with 5 years’ experi
ence• Registration with the Ontario Association of Child and Youth
Care• Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based model of intervention, and health equity princip
