TekStaff's Client has a current vacancy for a GIS Test Lead

Duration : This is a 6 month contract located in Toronto and Markham, ON (Hybrid- 2-5 times per week in Toronto Office, and 1 time per week in Markham)

Job Description

Job Function The Test Manager/Test Lead will primarily be responsible for leading the business and technical testing teams on the GIS (Geographical Information System) project. Client is going through a technical upgrade on the platform. This is a hands-on role and the selected candidate will provide leadership, guidance, and technical expertise in the area of testing.

Specific Accountabilities

Ability to define, review, and evaluate the testing approach and strategy across a program or multiple projects assigned. Build team alignment amongst staff, contractors, and vendor personnel with diverse backgrounds many of whom will be working together for the first time, during the duration of a project. Demonstrate business acumen by translating technical options into business objectives. Ability to act as a subject matter expert and provide coaching to team members on prioritization and estimation of all testing activities Ability to evaluate emerging test design/strategies/practices Get involved in some hands on testing where possible and needed. Demonstrates a strong drive and intellectual curiosity to investigate complex technical issues Ability to collaborate effectively with all team members and with cross-functional teams Ability to negotiate priorities and assure that testing issues are discussed and resolved Ability to review test coverage and propose solutions to increase test effectiveness Ability to diagnose complex issues and suggest testing strategies Ability to coach and propagate valuable testing practices within the team Extensive experience in managing a testing stream on complex projects Extensive experience in developing test plans, test strategies, test scenarios, test cases Write and review test cases

Technical Knowledge

BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent At least 10 years of experience in hands on testing and 5 years of experience in a technical lead, QA lead or QA manager position Extensive Experience creating test cases, plans, strategies, tracking, and reporting Extensive experience to create detailed testing resource plans Proven ability to accurately report test status and defect tracking Experience testing complex solutions such as GIS solution or similar technology Experience with ESRI products considered an asset Experience working with GIS platform and related tools considered an asset Experience with test automation tools Experience with tools such as HP ALM and Grip. Knowledge and ability to communicate effectively with technical and business teams Experience working with other Utilities considered an asset

Communication, creation, and evaluation of the testing processes to business and service providers Able to persuade, convince, influence, or impress others Initiative - takes action, proactively doing things and not simply thinking about future actions Information seeking - ability to acquire information relevant to the achievement of valued goals Strategic technical thinking - ability to apply their technical knowledge and experience to test decisions for achieving business objectives Team leadership - ability to take a role as leader of a team or other group

This role may require the candidate to work on more than one project at a time depending on the GIS project demands during the delivery lifecycle.

The contractor will be required to work on-site 2 - 5 times per week at the Trinity office with at least once a week from the Markham office (as needed).
