DESCRIPTION:
Burnaby Blacktop Ltd. is seeking an experienced and motivatedSafety Managerto support and lead our health & safety programs across municipal, commercial, and industrial projects.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong construction background who is committed to maintaining high safety standards and fostering a proactive safety culture on-site.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the construction industry
- Previous experience in a safety-related role
- Experience with COR (Certificate of Recognition) programs
- Experience with BC 1 Call processes and utility locating
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Strong knowledge ofWorkSafeBC regulations and safety practices
- Experience conductingsite inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
- Ability to develop and implementsafety policies and procedures
- Experience supporting or leadingCOR audits and compliance
- Familiarity withBC 1 Call requirements and underground utility coordination
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct regularsite safety inspections and audits
- Ensure compliance withWorkSafeBC and company safety policies
- Support and maintain the company’sCOR program
- Coordinate and verifyBC 1 Call tickets and utility locates prior to excavation
- Ensure crews are aware of and working safely aroundunderground utilities
- Investigate incidents and implementcorrective actions
- Deliversafety training and toolbox talks
- Maintain accuratesafety records and documentation
- Collaborate with supervisors and crews to promote astrong safety culture
- Identify hazards and implement proactive safety improvements
