The Financial Services department of the Corporate Services and Public Safety division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Accounting Clerk – Accounts Payable. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, this position offers 72 hours bi-weekly starting as soon as possible until October 7, 2026.

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for processing a high volume of invoices received by the municipality. The accounts payable role and cycle include invoice processing through to supplier payment with the municipal procurement system. The role requires correspondence with vendors to answer queries, vendor document maintenance, account reconciliations, resolve account discrepancies, and monitor supplier accounts to ensure timely payments. The role also includes employee communication to ensure timely approval of invoices, assisting employees with invoice questions, payment requests, expense reports and accounts payable system queries.

Qualified candidates will have a grade 12 diploma supplemented by 1-3 years of previous experience in a similar role in a computerized environment. Post-Secondary education in accounting is considered an asset. Candidates must have knowledge of accounts payable and procurement processes with the proven abilities to develop accounting solutions based on process requirements; accurately handle a high volume of transactions and meet deadlines; and prioritize work with a strong attention to detail. The successful candidate is a professional, approachable and collaborative individual who is customer service focused and demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands, and effectively prioritize workload. The successful candidate demonstrates commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace while contributing to a positive teamwork environment. The starting wage for this position is $29.53.
