About the Role:

The Landscape Technician plays a vital role in creating and maintaining aesthetically pleasing and functional outdoor environments within the hospitality, tourism, and recreation sectors across Canada. This position involves hands-on work in planting, pruning, and caring for a variety of plant species, ensuring that landscapes meet design specifications and environmental standards. The technician will collaborate closely with landscape designers and project managers to implement landscape plans that enhance guest experiences and promote sustainable practices. Attention to detail and punctuality are essential to meet project deadlines and maintain the high standards expected in the industry. Ultimately, the Landscape Technician contributes to the overall ambiance and appeal of outdoor spaces, supporting the reputation and success of hospitality and tourism venues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in landscaping or horticulture within a professional setting.
  • Ability to read and write in English to understand instructions and document work performed.
  • Basic math skills including the ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers for material estimation.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders and perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Possession of reliable transportation to access multiple work locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training or certification in horticulture, landscape design, or a related field.
  • Experience working in the hospitality, tourism, or recreation industries.
  • Knowledge of sustainable landscaping practices and environmental stewardship.
  • Familiarity with landscape design software or digital tools.
  • First aid certification and training in workplace safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute landscape installation and maintenance tasks including planting, pruning, mulching, and watering according to design plans.
  • Operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights to perform tasks such as tree trimming and installation of landscape features.
  • Read and interpret landscape design plans to ensure accurate implementation of projects.
  • Perform basic calculations related to measurements, materials, and quantities to support project accuracy.
  • Maintain reliable transportation to travel between multiple job sites across Canada as required.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate daily activities and report progress.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and environmental regulations to ensure a safe and sustainable work environment.
