About the role
The Processing and Serials Supervisor works under the general supervision of the Head Librarian, Support Services. The core functions of the position are to supervise and coordinate schedules for two (2) full-time and five (5) part-time Processing and Serials Assistant staff members, organize and troubleshoot the processing of library material, coordinate the receiving, invoicing and distribution of new library periodicals and standing orders; and to maintain the periodical and standing order records on Horizon, the Library Integrated Library Software (ILS). This position acts as backup for the Support Services Acquisitions Supervisor (LSA 4), and acts for the Head Librarian, Support Services, when necessary.
As the Processing and Serials Supervisor, you will:
- Coordinate and manage the Processing workflow.
- Supervise Serials and Processing Assistants.
- Coordinate invoicing, receiving and distribution of serials and standing orders.
- Maintain the ILS Serials module.
- Act as back up to Support Services Acquisition Supervisor.
Your education and qualifications include:

Grade 12 diploma, and
-
Library Technician’s Diploma from an accredited community college or technical college program in Canada.

Experience working in a library-related environment is preferred.

Experience supervising staff including scheduling, training, coaching and providing guidance.

Experience processing invoices including ordering, receiving and cancelling standing orders and periodicals is preferred.

Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to manage conflicting deadlines and adapt quickly to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Strong verbal communication skills.

Effective written communication skills.

Extensive knowledge of Horizon, the Integrated Library Software (ILS), is preferred.

General knowledge of serials and how they are entered into Horizon, the Integrated Library Software system.

General knowledge of Processing requirements for all material types.
