About the role

About the Role Do you like driving, working with your hands, and seeing a finished job you can be proud of? This is a hands-on role for someone who wants more than a seat in a cab. As a Blower Truck Operator / Installer, you'll drive to job sites across the region, then set up and blow mulch, bark, topsoil, and compost into place with precision—leaving every site looking sharp. You'll be the face of Klassen on every job: talking customers through the process, answering their questions, and making sure they're happy before you pull away. Some days you'll run the job solo; other days you'll lead a small crew. We'll train the right person on the blower equipment—what matters most is a strong Class 3 driver who takes pride in their work, cares about safety, and isn't afraid to get dirty. You won't be a number here. You'll know your crew leads, your manager will know your name, and when something comes up, someone picks up the phone.

Home Terminal: Burnaby, BC Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Wage: $33.00 – $40.00/hour Schedule: Day Shift — flexible hours, including occasional early starts or longer days during peak season Key Responsibilities Safely operate the blower truck to load, transport, and blow materials (mulch, bark, topsoil, compost, etc.) onto job sites with precision and efficiency. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the truck, blower system, hoses, and all equipment. Report issues immediately to keep the rig in top shape and avoid breakdowns. Set up and manage hose layouts, site preparation, and safe positioning of the truck for optimal blowing operations. Work closely with customers on-site—explain the process, answer questions, ensure satisfaction, and represent Klassen professionally. Great customer service is non-negotiable. Load materials using loaders/skid steers when needed, and assist with general labour tasks (spreading, cleanup, backpack blowing for finishing touches). Follow all safety protocols, traffic laws, and company procedures. Keep a clean truck and worksite. Complete required paperwork (delivery tickets, logs, etc.) accurately and on time. Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting on the blower system and truck as needed. Collaborate with crew leads and other operators to complete jobs efficiently, sometimes leading small crews. Other duties as assigned (seasonal landscaping support, equipment cleaning, etc.). Requirements & Qualifications Valid Class 3 Driver's Licence with a clean abstract (air brake endorsement preferred). Comfortable driving larger trucks. Manual transmission experience is an asset but not required. Experience operating blower trucks, hydroseeders, or similar equipment is a big plus—we'll train motivated candidates. Strong customer service skills—you'll be the face of the company on every job. Physically fit and not afraid to get dirty: heavy lifting, outdoor work in all weather, and working around hoses and sites. Reliable, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented, with good mechanical aptitude. Able to read site plans/layouts and understand basic landscaping/erosion-control practices. Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and equipment care. Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional early starts or longer days during peak season. Valley Carriers is the Klassen's original operating company. It was just recently ranked No. 398 on the 29th Annual Profit 500, the definitive ranking of Canada's fastest growing companies and is also listed at No. 68 on Business in Vancouver's list of fastest growing companies in BC. Each year, the fleet of over forty trucks travels nearly 2.5 million kilometers, transporting heavy equipment, logs and wood residuals, such as sawdust, bark mulch & hog fuel for use in agriculture, landscaping and the pulp & paper industry. True to our roots, we still provide bedding material for dairy, equestrian and poultry farming throughout the Lower Mainland, but we've grown to include the transportation of wood residuals from shake and shingle mills to pulp mills and also the hauling of logs from the forests to sawmills.
