We are seeking a Data Engineer Lead to join our dynamic and innovative team of imaging scientists and software developers. In this role, you will work with a diverse set of stakeholders to implement data engineering solutions in the realm of Digital Pathology. You will lead and drive the development of robust ETL and processing pipelines and storage infrastructure for images and associated metadata, ensuring high-quality data inputs for critical AI/ML algorithm development. You will work together with a team of Imaging Scientists, Data Managers, Project Managers, and Quality Engineers to define requirements, and implement innovative solutions utilizing both on-premise and cloud technologies.
The Opportunity:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for processing both structured and unstructured data.
- Work with AWS-based infrastructure (e.g., S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift) to support reliable and scalable data systems.
- Create efficient data models, enhance database performance, and troubleshoot issues to ensure seamless data flow.
- Plan, design, and implement systems to improve overall data quality and reliability.
- Partner with product managers, scientists, and team members to translate user needs into actionable technical solutions and contribute to system architecture.
- Write clean, well-tested code, participate in code reviews, and uphold engineering best practices to evolve processes.
- Facilitate smooth data transfers between systems and contribute to documentation, technical discussions, and testing efforts.
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field with 7+ years of data engineering experience, including 3+ years in cloud engineering.
- Strong expertise in Python, SQL, and hands-on experience with AWS services (S3, Lambda, Glue, RDS, etc.), as well as familiarity with data orchestration tools like Nextflow, Snakemake, or Airflow.
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance, particularly within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated application of engineering best practices, combined with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Quick to acquire new technical skills with a passion for continuous learning and driving innovative solutions.
Preferred:
- Master degree in n Computer Science, Data Engineering
