Reporting to the Supervisor, Customer Service and Administration, this position is responsible for providing a full range of customer services in response to residential, commercial accounts service inquiries, complaints or service requests within an assigned service area. The role also requires assisting with the operation of the Accounts Payable & Receivable functions, office administration & support, as well as financial tasks. As the first contact for customers, the purpose of the position is to ensure prompt and personalized service and to promote and enhance the company’s image with our customers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work with customers, both in person and on the telephone, to respond to billing and service inquiries, connection and disconnection of services.

  • Coordinate field work with service personnel and process field work orders on the billing system.

  • Initiate collection action as required and negotiate a mutually acceptable payment arrangement with arrears customers.

  • Apply knowledge of emergency procedures to assist with power outages, as required.

  • Liaise with social agencies, governments and First Nations to seek or provide customer information and resolve account related issues.

  • Assisting with financial tasks as well as other office administration duties and support, including handling of payments.

What You Bring:

  • High School Diploma is required.

  • Minimum of 3 years related experience within a computerized environment.

  • Experience with accounts payables and receivable systems.

  • Working knowledge of O365, MS Word and MS Excel.

  • Working knowledge of Customer Information Billing Systems.

  • Working knowledge of company policies and practices regarding accounts, billings, connections and disconnections.

  • Knowledge of rate structures, utility regulations, emergency procedures, and utility industry.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills for dealing with internal and external customers.

  • An orientation to deliver excellent customer service.

  • An ability to deal with confrontation and diffuse emotional situations.

  • An ability to work professionally and maintain confidentiality of customer information.
