Purpose of your Position - Non Union
Classification Summary - Union
A Mechanic troubleshoots, adjusts, repairs and/or replaces various mechanical,
hydraulic and electrical parts and systems of the City’s fleet of cars, light to heavy
duty trucks, industrial construction equipment, including firefighting apparatus and
parks machinery.
Duties - Union
-
Performs troubleshooting, electronic diagnostics, repairs and servicing on power trains, electrical, charging, hydraulic and fuel systems on a variety of vehicles, equipment and machinery; periodically performs welding and fabrication duties. The work is completed in both shop and field locations.

Operates all tools and equipment of the trade, including standard office equipment.

Maintains all tools and equipment clean and in a safe working condition; keeps the work area clean and free of hazards to ensure a safe workplace.

Inspects and adjusts air brake systems to ensure compliance with the National Safety Code, Ministry of Transportation and B.C. Motor Vehicle Act.

Completes work orders and various other written records related to work activities.

Participates in courses that are required to learn new and continuously changing trades technologies.
