About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

The Summer Student will be responsible for various operations activities common to a milling operation and the associated crushing, grinding, and support equipment.

The position will be on fixed term between May 1, 2026, to August 31, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform daily housekeeping throughout the mill and associated areas.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings, initiatives, and other safety-related activities.
  • Safely operate and maintain company vehicles as required.
  • Perform other duties related to the Student, Mill Operations role as assigned by the department head.
  • Conduct general inspections and report potential issues to the Operations Supervisor.
  • Assist Mill Operations Technicians with operational tasks and support the operations team as required.

Potential Growth Opportunities

  • Learn and become proficient in operating mobile equipment such as skid steers, remote-control mini dozers, and overhead cranes (training provided by the company).
  • Develop an understanding of mill circuits through training and hands-on experience.
  • Operate and monitor various circuits in the processing plant as directed by the supervisor.

About You

  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
  • High School or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to self-evaluate and continuously strive for quality.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and keep on schedule.
  • Experience preferred: Proven safety and attendance record.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds is required.
  • Willingness to work in adverse conditions.
  • Self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude.

Working Conditions

  • Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 7/7 work schedule, 12 hours per day,
  • Regular exposure to working indoors and outdoors, continuous noise, working around machinery with moving parts, around heavy equipment and in close proximity to others
  • Exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Adhere to Mill Pad Clean shaven Policy.

  • Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site.
  • The employee is expected to stay at the mine site, while on rotation.
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James and Mackenzie.
