About the role
Job Purpose
The Educational Assistant – Classroom Support assists teachers in providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for students across kindergarten to Grade 12 programming within the Kitaskinaw Education Authority (KEA). This entry-level role supports classroom learning activities, student engagement, and general classroom organization. Educational Assistants help students participate in learning activities while fostering a positive and inclusive school environment. Educational Assistants play an important role in supporting student success through respectful relationships and encouragement. This work reflects Cree values of wahkohtowin, recognizing that learning occurs through relationships and community support.
Education, Experience And Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Clear Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerability Sector and Child Welfare Intervention Check is required.
The Following Certifications Are Considered Assets
First Aid / CPR Certification
Behavior support or crisis intervention training Cultural awareness or Indigenous education training Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma Child and Youth Care training Early Childhood Education training
Experience working with children or youth
Working Conditions
Work hours are from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
Required to work a total of 40 hours per week (Essential Service) 10-month-based employee, with summers off per the annual operational calendar.
Required to volunteer 100 hours per school year
May require occasional lifting of light office supplies and equipment. Work occurs primarily in classroom settings. Some outdoor supervision or school activity participation may be required. Collaboration with support staff and service providers is common. Participation in transition planning meetings and student support meetings may be required. Participation in cultural activities, school events, and community engagement opportunities may be required. Must sign and adhere to the Enoch Cree Nation Confidentiality Agreement upon hire.
