Job Summary:

The Team Lead is responsible for coordinating daily production activities, ensuring product quality, maintaining accurate records, and supporting a safe and efficient work environment. This role provides guidance to team members and works closely with other Lead Hands and the Production Supervisor to meet production targets and uphold company standards.

What you will do:

  • Review all required production for each workday and take it to the designated workstation.
  • Ensure product is the correct material type, dimensionally checked, and correctly labeled, marked, and packaged.
  • Ensure production data and loading reports are accurate.
  • Ensure quality of product is in accordance with established standards.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure that samples are selected daily from each product type and are correctly submitted and documented. Coordinate with other Lead Hands and Production Supervisor to ensure completeness.
  • Ensure that each month lab samples are selected from each product type and are correctly submitted and documented. Coordinate with other Lead Hands and Production Supervisor to ensure completeness.
  • Ensure all employees are following company policies and procedures.
  • In the event of an absence of the Production Supervisor, coordinate with other shift leaders to ensure that collectively all responsibilities are fulfilled.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor or Manufacturing Manager.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Experience within a manufacturing setting in a supervisory role.
  • Minimum Grade 12 education, with some post-secondary education focusing on mechanical/technical/production areas and some business training in inventory/warehouse management, accounting, customer service, and quality assurance.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and train employees.
  • Understanding of customer requirements.
  • Ability to use the company internal system to track orders and maintain accurate inventory and production records.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Beginner level word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and Windows.
  • Understanding of shipping requirements, paperwork, and transportation legislation.
  • Understanding of safety and WHMIS legislation.
