Manufacturing Engineer - Process & Material Flow
About the role
Responsible for plant material transformation flow set-up and improvement, including optimizing manufacturing process flow, warehousing storage, dunnage design, and other facilities processes and layouts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree or technologist diploma in engineering or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years of related experience
- In depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, capacity calculations, material handling and storage, as well as the general operation of an industrial facility.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Engineering drawings, plant layouts and dunnage design
- Ability to review scale drawings to ensure the proposed designs satisfy requirements and comply with manufacturing capabilities.
- Ability to interact with technicians or technologists for tasks such as creating scale drawings, preparing specifications, writing proposals and developing plant maintenance schedules.
- Good knowledge of Excel, Word and other MS Office tools.
- Ability to stay abreast of current and new technologies and advances in the engineering field. Attend formal professional development seminars and conferences as needed.
- Time and motion studies experience Project and change management experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with manufacturing engineer, project engineers, and program managers, set up personnel and maintenance departments to reduce costs and remove non-value added material from productions lines.
- Work with program managers and project engineers at the APQP stage of a program start-up.
- Plan assigned work in an efficient method to minimize machine downtime while ensuring employee safety is maintained.
- Troubleshoot process automation problems.
- Perform regular housekeeping duties.
- Work within QS9000 procedures and requirements.
- Work with engineering following PPAP approval in resolving non-value added processes.
- Work in design stage of processes both for start-up and current production projects.
- Assign work tasks where applicable to co-worker(s).
- Participate in meetings with supervisors, co-workers and employees to plan upcoming activities and to update projects.
- Ensure work is performed in a manner that minimizes downtime.
- Perform other duties/tasks as assigned.
