NOTICE OF VACANCY

POSITION: REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE

Medicine/Complex Continuing Care Unit

Primary Site: Stratford

Regular Part-Time B*

  • Part-time B commitment: 22.5 hours in a 2 week period

(Shifts: 12-hour shifts, 7 day/week coverage, may be subject to change)

REPORTS TO: Manager, Inpatient/Outpatient Medicine

DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible

SALARY: $35.99 to $38.16 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario

  • Current BLS Certification

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years recent nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred with the ability to work to full scope of practice as defined by the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance

  • Recent clinical experience (minimum two years) in Medicine/Complex Continuing Care Nursing

  • Recent/related courses, in-services in Medicine/Complex Continue Care Nursing

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to plan, organize and exercise effective decision making

  • Excellent critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to prioritize and function both independently and interdependently with the inter-professional care team

  • Ability to engage patient and family partners in patient education related to the Medicine/CCC setting

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and continuing education

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position

  • Working knowledge of or the ability to quickly comprehend the Meditech Information System and personal computer applications

  • Knowledge of Senior Friendly Hospital Initiatives and their application in the clinical setting

  • Excellent physical assessment skills

Required Learning:

  • Completion of IV Therapy Initiation and IV Therapy Discontinuation course

Preferred Learning:

  • Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Training

  • Physical Intellectual Emotional Capabilities Environment Social (P.I.E.C.E.S.)

  • Palliative Care Level 1 & 2
