The role:

The Reporting and Insights Analyst provides data mining and data querying to support the business reporting team as well as providing reporting to the lines of business. With intermediate analytical skills, a knowledge of various reporting systems and data tools (SQL, SAS, PowerBi), they will act as an internal support providing data and reporting to key stakeholders.

As the data expert, the Reporting and Insights Analyst demonstrates an ability to leverage existing tools to support and build complex queries and reports to provide accurate and consistent data and Reports.

The role will support the advancement of analytics and data management, processes and tools to contribute to the achievement of Meridian's strategic and in year goals. This role will be responsible for building, maintaining and enhancing current reports along with the development of new and adhoc reporting to support the business reporting team and lines of businesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis & Reporting

    • Prepares and presents scheduled reports (i.e. key business performance indicators, dashboards and scorecards) and ad hoc reports (i.e. in support of projects or departmental initiatives) for the business reporting team and lines of businesses, both proactively and upon request.
    • Develop and produce operational reports and analyses using a diverse set of data sources with accuracy, while always ensuring data integrity and fulfilling the intended business objective.
    • Ensures that the Business reporting team has the necessary data and information to support the needs.
    • Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to streamline processes, tools and analysis.
    • Demonstrates a passion for creative problem-solving and a desire to propose changes.
    • Educate the business reporting team on opportunities to enhance reporting and analysis opportunities.
  • Team collaboration and Communications

    • Coordinates the acquisition of data from various, relevant data sources and applies analytical skills to convert data into meaningful information.
    • Collaborates within business reporting team specialists and establishes strong communication among team members to determine and meet their reporting and analytical needs.
    • Collaborates across all lines of business along with business reporting team specialists to meet their reporting and analytical needs;
  • Continuous Improvement, Learning & Development

    • Networks with other like-minded individuals to keep abreast of new solutions, resources, and analytical techniques;
    • Explore opportunities to utilize analysis and reporting capabilities within the Shared Services Team, such as speech analytics, quality management reporting and scorecarding functionality.
    • Willingness to learn new reporting tools and/or software packages as they become available to the Analyst community within MCU.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Developed analytical skills in data and business analysis and reporting;

  • Approach data collection with a curious mind asking the right questions and understanding how to recognize trends and cross validating all findings using data from multiple;

  • Forward thinking with an openness to change to identify new opportunities;

  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work autonomously in cross-functional teams, with internal customers and key stakeholders;

  • Experience in analysis and working with various software (SQL, SAS, PowerBi) and techniques of analysis;

  • Commitment to change management with the drive for continuous improvement;

  • Process management skills, initiative, ability to manage competing priorities and attention to detail are critical;

  • Exhibits an analytical, creative, and innovative approach to meeting stakeholder and business needs;

Education, Work Experience, and Professional Designations/Certifications**:**

  • Degree or diploma in mathematics, statistics or computer science or related discipline;

  • Experience in a financial institution environment with a strong understanding of financial metrics, segmentation and industry drivers would be an asset

This role represents an existing vacancy. Internal candidates are being considered as part of our standard process.

Salary Range: CAD $52,000 – $78,000 annually

Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role’s requirements may be placed higher within the range. Your recruiter will share more information about our total rewards package during the hiring process.

Office Location: Toronto Corporate Office with the ability to travel to our St. Catharines office. This is a hybrid work opportunity.

Meridian has a remote work policy that allows flexibility for employees to work remotely but also requires a minimum of one day per week in the office for purposeful meetings to collaborate, innovate and build effective relationships with your team, your colleagues and your leader which is important to us.
