THE JOB: Insurance Advisor
The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.
Starting Salary Range: $90,640- $113,300
Reporting to the Insurance Advisor Manager, the Insurance Advisor is responsible for analyzing physicians’ personal insurance needs and providing recommendations on a complete insurance portfolio that may include life, disability, critical illness, and accidental death & dismemberment insurance. The Advisor’s primary responsibility is to promote the Doctors of BC proprietary programs and to provide individual insurance solutions to enhance a member’s insurance portfolio. The Advisor will initiate marketing campaigns that will generate in-person, virtual, and telephone appointments with members. The Insurance Advisor will support marketing campaigns, conduct large group presentations and provide superior customer support to our members. Evening work and occasional weekend work are required. Occasional travel to Vancouver Island, other areas within BC or to the main office in Vancouver may be required.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Relationship Building (A):
- Provides informal functional leadership of peers and lower levels as a technical expert and may lead small project working teams.
- Builds a common understanding of issues and priorities between client groups.
- Ability to set shared objectives necessary for obtaining feedback and assistance.
- Frame issues to present opportunities and difficulties.
- Maintains effective communication by sharing ideas, best practices, trends and exploring opportunities with client groups.

WHAT YOU BRING
- A Bachelor’s or graduate degree and/or a recognized professional designation in a specialized field, and up to six years of progressive experience in a financial/insurance marketing or sales role; or having an equivalent level of related work experience in lieu of post-secondary education.
- Must be licensed to sell Life and Accident & Sickness insurance in BC and be in good standing with the Insurance Council of BC. CHS, GBA, CFP or CLU designations are an asset.
- Thorough product knowledge of individual life insurance and living benefits; able to present marketing concepts and solutions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as proven ability to develop clear and concise written documents and communication.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate significantly with peers and multiple stakeholder groups while accessing guidance only when critically required.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, and a strong track record of balancing priorities and meeting multiple deadlines.
- Ability to conduct highly complex and highly specialized work activities associated with your client group and provide expert advice and solutions to achieve broader organizational results.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MAC and PC based software, particularly Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with CRM Salesforce is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and car, along with willingness to travel within BC and to be flexible, accommodating evening meetings, overnight stays and home-based working.
