Within the Finance group, the Corporate Accounting team is responsible for producing reliable financial information for Laurentian Bank and its subsidiaries. The incumbent contributes to day‑to‑day accounting operations by performing various validations, reconciliations, financial data updates, and transactional processing. The role ensures the accuracy of accounting information, compliance with internal controls, and the application of existing policies. The position also plays a key role in the preparation of reports required for internal and external audits.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the processing of accounting entries for the Bank and its subsidiaries in the various general ledgers (Masterpiece, SIBL).
  • Update the monthly journal entry tracking list as well as the approvers’ register.
  • Verify the accuracy of entries recorded in the accounting systems and correct any identified discrepancies.
  • Perform cheque clearing and prepare daily accounting transactions, including the monetary settlement of intercompany accounts.
  • Participate in the accounting and processing of swap‑related payments.
  • Perform reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items until they are fully resolved.
  • Participate in the preparation and distribution of confirmation letters to clients as part of external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with deadlines, particularly month‑end close timelines.
  • Respond effectively to requests from various areas of the Bank as well as from internal and external auditors, related to the sector’s activities. Manage the distribution of mail for the entire department.
  • Ensure the application and compliance with existing policies, programs, and procedures.

Qualifications

  • College diploma (DEC) in Accounting or a related field

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in a similar role

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles

  • Proficiency in accounting software and the Microsoft Office suite

  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a high level of accuracy

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Bilingual* (French/English)

  • Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
