About the Role

The Powder Plant Area Manager at Vianode plays a pivotal leadership role in driving the successful execution of the powder plant project. This position is responsible for providing technical oversight and governance, ensuring alignment with the project’s scope, schedule, and budget. The Area Manager will lead decision-making within their domain and collaborate closely with Area Leads from various Partner Organizations to optimize technical performance and ensure efficient project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Governance

  • Own and manage the scope, schedule, and budget for the Powder Plant area in alignment with the Delegation of Authority (DoA) and Project Baselines.
  • Approve changes within the area and ensure they are documented and communicated effectively.
  • Provide technical oversight and governance throughout the project lifecycle.

Technical Decision-Making

  • Lead decisions related to the technical design of systems within the Powder Plant area.
  • Evaluate and manage trade-offs in technical performance, risk, and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and quality benchmarks.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with Partner Organizations’ Area Leads to align on design, execution, and delivery strategies.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Represent the Powder Plant area in project reviews, steering committees, and technical forums.

Risk & Performance Management

  • Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks.
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure timely reporting and escalation of issues impacting scope, schedule, or cost

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field).
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in industrial project execution, preferably in battery materials, chemicals, or powder processing.
  • Proven track record in managing complex technical projects with budget and schedule accountability.
  • Strong understanding of process engineering, plant design, and operational readiness.
  • Experience working in cross-functional and multi-organizational environments.

Location: Onsite, South West Ontario (specific location TBC)

  • Onsite with visits to engineering offices, contractor offices and other team meetings
