This role sits within Laurentian Bank Securities, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank.

Under the responsibility of the department manager, the officer will see to the proper settlement of transactions of the Canadian-US Bonds and equities, foreign securities, and to the daily reconciliation and monitoring of control accounts. The incumbent will also work with management to review operational procedures and be required to ensure compliance with various internal and external policies.

Reporting to the Manager Settlements & clearing, the incumbent will have the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Settle Canadian bonds and equities transactions with other institutions on the CDSX/ARROW system.
  • Prepare and settle new issue transactions according to the standards established between the various stakeholders
  • Proceed with securities loans with Sec Lenders as well as put securities as collateral. (PLEDGE)
  • Settle transactions against the payment of American stocks/ bonds and foreign securities with other institutions using DTC, FED WIRE, instruct our foreign custodian for any foreign stocks
  • Start of the day - Reconcile settlements transactions versus depository CDSX and DTC.
  • Export delivery file to DTC settlement system.
  • Ensure the availability of securities to make deliveries.
  • Make end-of-day settlement payments and ensure that our bank accounts are in order.
  • Notify clients of any transaction settlement problems.
  • Follow up on outstanding transactions daily.
  • Serve as a contact person for clients.
  • Perform all similar or related tasks.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or any other experience relevant to the position

  • Bilingual* (spoken and written English and French)

  • Knowledge of KYNDRYL, DTC, CDSX, ARROW, Word, and Excel

  • Ability to work well under pressure and in ambiguous, unpredictable, or complex situations

  • Ability to provide quick and effective customer service

  • Strong team player

  • Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.

Yearly salary: $48,000 to $61,000
