Job Description
Midland Transport is looking for Maintenance Manager- Sublet to work out of our Head office in Dieppe, NB.
The Maintenance Manager – Sublet is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of all third‑party (sublet) maintenance activities across the fleet. This role ensures external maintenance services are delivered efficiently, cost‑effectively, and in alignment with company quality standards. The position oversees sublet spend control, vendor performance, warranty recovery, and compliance, while actively working to minimize equipment downtime. As the primary point of accountability for sublet maintenance, the Maintenance Manager – Sublet drives strong governance, builds effective vendor partnerships, and leverages data and performance monitoring to optimize cost, quality, and reliability across the organization.
Responsibilities
Sublet Maintenance Operations
Oversee all sublet maintenance activities for trucks, trailers, reefers, and specialty equipment. Determine appropriate routing of work between internal shops and external vendors. Ensure all sublet repairs meet company quality, safety, and technical standards. Minimize equipment downtime through effective vendor coordination and turnaround management.
Vendor & Network Management
Develop and manage a high‑performing external maintenance vendor network. Establish service level expectations, performance metrics, and compliance standards. Monitor vendor performance and address issues through regular reviews and corrective actions. Maintain strong relationships with dealers, OEMs, and national service providers.
Cost & Budget Control
Own and control sublet maintenance spend, driving cost‑reduction initiatives. Review estimates and invoices to ensure accuracy, scope alignment, and value. Analyze cost trends and identify opportunities for savings. Support budgeting and forecasting for sublet maintenance activities.
Warranty & Compliance
Ensure eligible repairs are reviewed and processed for warranty or policy recovery. Validate vendor compliance with OEM and warranty requirements. Partner with internal teams to maximize warranty recovery and audit readiness.
Performance Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Track key KPIs including spend, downtime, vendor performance, warranty recovery, and rework. Provide clear reporting and insights using Power BI and maintenance systems. Standardize and improve sublet maintenance processes, systems, and data quality.
Qualifications
Trade Certification, College Diploma, or Engineering degree (or equivalent). Minimum of 7 years of experience in fleet maintenance, asset management, or a related field. Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems, with advanced troubleshooting capabilities. Proven experience managing external maintenance vendors and service networks. Demonstrated ability to control costs, analyze data, and drive operational and process improvements. Solid understanding of warranty processes, OEM programs, and compliance requirements. Experience working with maintenance management systems and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI). Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to travel
