As a Skate Patroller, you’ll be the frontline ambassador of safety and fun during outdoor public skates—ensuring every glide, spin, and stumble happens in a secure and welcoming environment. You’ll monitor the ice with confidence, uphold the Skaters Code of Conduct, and help skaters of all ages enjoy their time with ease and respect.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive Public Skating Program during Public Skates to meet the needs of all participants through monitoring compliance of the Skaters Code of Conduct, ongoing supervision and excellent customer and staff relations.
- Ensure participants are wearing appropriate equipment for the program
- Deal with customer service issues and escalate to Lead Skate Patroller if required
- Assist in conducting safety checks of ice conditions, programming space (condition of boards, gates, glass etc.)
- Monitor use of allowed equipment.
- Ensure ice is clear pre and post skate.
- Help maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Perform First Aid, asses accidents and incidents
- Perform administrative tasks as required such as ratio’s are maintained and report to Lead Skate Patroller,
- Ensure Accident/Incident forms; Behaviour reports etc. are completed and submitted.
- Ongoing inventory of first aid equipment.
- Communicate any issues to Lead Skate Patroller
Skills And Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Emergency or Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR B or C (Lifesaving Society, CanadianRed Cross Society, St. John’s Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol) certification (must be recognized byWSIB). The certificate must be valid during the employment period and is provided at the employee's expense.
- Strong skating skills and knowledge of safe on-ice practices.
- Exposure to cold temperatures and inclement weather.
- Willingness to work at other outdoor rink locations as required.
- Shift work is required – including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Employment offer is conditional upon the successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check (Level III) from an acceptable police service at your own expense.
Hourly Rate/Salary: 18.23 - 21.71
