Wesbell is seeking an Electrician Apprentice. This position is responsible for assisting Journeyman Electrician and Master Electrician with all A/C electrical work to support the installation of telecommunication equipment. Travelling is required for this position.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include
Responsibilities This position is responsible for performing or assisting in performing, under the direct supervision of a 309A licensed Electrician, the following:
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine the layout of electrical equipment installations.
- Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, distribution switches, breaker panels, conduits 1” – 2” EMT, install fire alarm components, teck cable and service cables, and ensure compliance with Ontario Electrical Standards Act.
- Any other assigned and related tasks as directed
Education (Theoretical Training)
- High School, GEGEP, vocational or technical training preferred
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year Electrical Apprentice.
Job Requirements & Experience
- Ability to read and follow electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Ability to take measurements using high-voltage testing equipment. Use formulas from the Electrical Code (ESA) to determine the sizes of cables needed when the sizes of services and the lengths of cable runs are known.
- Ability to use Greenlee hydraulic benders, work with Teck Cable, 1” – 2” EMT installs, and Fire Alarm experience is an asset.
- Understand and work within the ESA Electrical Codes.
- Take direction and implement tasks as distributed by the supervisor
- Must be a self-starter able to work under minimal supervision at times
- Maintain the highest degree of safety compliance above and beyond Wesbell’s health and safety policies
- Must be a reliable worker with ga ood attendance record
- Ability to work independently as well as work in a team setting.
- Must have a strong command of the English language, both verbal and written
- Must have a working knowledge of computers and Windows-based programs
