DRS Pivotal Power is a leader in the design, development and manufacture of high reliability power conversion equipment for mission critical applications supporting all branches of the military in Canada, the US and many countries abroad. Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Senior Director - Site Lead the Facilities Specialist will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and facilities operation. This role will have oversight for two Canadian offices located in Bedford, Nova Scotia and Kanata, Ontario.
As a Senior Facilities Specialist, your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Directs the scheduling, maintenance, and monitoring of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, water, electric, and clean room environment.
- Assist in performing a variety of facility related tasks including preventive and general building maintenance, carpentry, painting, etc.
- Initiates and ensures the efficient application of preventative maintenance, energy conservation, and safety programs.
- Coordinates construction, remodeling and repair projects. Obtains cost estimates, prepares reports and procures outside contractors for specific projects.
- Inspects Completed work for conformance to specifications and approves for payment.
- Develops, implements, and monitors housekeeping services including janitorial functions, maintenance of lawns and landscaping, snow and trash removal, painting, minor repairs and related services.
- Oversees and monitors the established facilities security function.
- Ensures adherence to security regulations and procedures in the protection of organization property for fire, theft, sabotage or other situations which risk the well-being of employees or organization facilities.
- Works closely with law enforcement agencies on investigations of irregularities connected with organizational security.
- Assists and advises in preparation for Ministry inspections and follows up to verify compliance with Ministry orders.
- Continuously monitors emissions to the environment through the air, sewage, water and soil, by remaining current and compliant with the Environment Protection Act.
- Complete and submit mid-year and year end sustainment reports to corporate headquarters.
What you require to be successful in the role:
- A minimum of five (5) years of relatable experience in facilities management and health and safety.
- Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent years of experience.
- Possession of an International Facilities Management Association Certificate is considered an asset.
- Proven knowledge of legislation related to facility construction/maintenance.
- Ability to read and comprehend drawings and blueprints.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
- Effective team player with highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to interface well with people of different disciplines and levels.
