Role Description The Plastics Extruder Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Cambridge, ON. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring plastic extrusion equipment to process PVC materials according to production specifications. Day-to-day tasks include preparing raw materials, adjusting machine settings, performing routine inspections, and ensuring product quality through visual and dimensional checks. The operator documents production data, follows safety and housekeeping standards, and collaborates with team members and supervisors to meet production targets. The role also involves basic troubleshooting of equipment issues and communicating any maintenance needs promptly.

Qualifications

Experience with plastics extrusion or similar manufacturing equipment, including setup, operation, and monitoring of production lines. Knowledge of basic quality control practices, such as measuring materials, inspecting finished product, and completing production records accurately. Understanding of workplace safety procedures, including safe handling of materials, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to company safety policies. Ability to perform basic mechanical troubleshooting, identify machine issues, and work with maintenance or supervisors to resolve problems. Strong attention to detail, reliability in following instructions, and ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active industrial environment. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members on the production floor. Previous experience in plastics, recycling, or manufacturing is an asset; high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Willingness to work assigned shifts and overtime as needed to meet production demands.
