About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Dartmouth General Technical Manager, and under the supervision of the Laboratory Technical Supervisor and direction of the medical leadership team, the Medical Laboratory Technical Specialist performs analyses and procedures offered by the division using appropriate methodologies and quality assurance techniques. The Laboratory Technical Specialist must have the capability to conduct all aspects of procedural and instrument troubleshooting, method evaluation, establishment and maintenance of quality assurance and safety programs, as well as interpret the technical acceptability of test results. The Laboratory Technical Specialist demonstrates a high level of technical expertise within the Core Laboratory, leadership skills and has some administrative responsibilities in the laboratory. The~~ ~~ Medical Laboratory Technical Specialist must communicate effectively and professionally. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times as deemed essential by the Medical Laboratory Technologist Code of Conduct.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Must be a graduate of an approved program in Medical Technology plus three years’ experience in a medical laboratory setting
- Experience in a Core Lab setting required
- Must be licensed with NSCMLT and CSMLS
- Experience with Cerner LIS preferred
- Experience in WAM and IM preferred
- Previous experience with Quality Assurance initiatives preferred
- Must have demonstrated customer service skills; interpersonal skills; leadership skills; excellent organization and technical skills; as well as good decision-making skills
- Must be able to recognize abnormal situations and respond appropriately
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Permanent, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Shiftwork, including weekends and holidays, may be required
- Travel may be required
