Sasquatch Mountain Resort (formally, Hemlock Resort) is currently accepting applications for Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our growing team and community here in Hemlock Valley. Successful applicants will have a multifaceted and influential role in maintaining, repairing and tracking the service of our equipment essential to our ski area operations.

Some of the equipment you’ll be working on at Sasquatch Mountain Resort include CAT 966C, 980G and Case 921G Loaders, 252 Skid Steer, Volvo EC210C Excavator, our fleet of snowcats which include Prinoth and PistonBully machines – as well as a handful of light-duty vehicles and snowmobiles.

  • Wage: 40/hour

  • Schedule: Full-time, including weekends and holidays

  • Skill Level: Red Seal or equivalent

Job Description:

  • Help maintain and perform a routine preventative maintenance schedule for all company equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair company equipment.
  • Perform field diagnosis and field running repairs within the resort.
  • Complete necessary documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
  • Initiate and complete daily work assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Interact with various related departments such as lift and facilities maintenance, grooming and ski patrol.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program.
  • Practice safe work procedures.
  • Maintain a professional and respectable appearance.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic or Interprovincial Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification or be in receipt of a Military Certificate in Vehicle Technician QL5.
  • Valid driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract (class 3 or 4 is an asset).
  • An up-to-date driving abstract must accompany application.
  • Have a good understanding and working knowledge of electrical work, steering, hydraulic and air brake systems is required.
  • Previous experience repairing undercarriage and track assemblies with a valid welding ticket is required.
  • Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Previous repair experience on the Prinoth and PistonBully product lines would be considered a key asset.
  • Must be able to work outside in a mountain environment for prolonged periods.
  • Basic computer skills, the ability to use Excel, Outlook, Word Docs, etc. would be considered an asset.
  • Must be able to make quick decisions/use considerable judgement regarding safety as well as multitask and anticipate issues.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Must be willing to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of assigned area, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends.
  • Must be adaptable, have problem solving skills, and be a team player across all departments.
  • Stress Management, Patient, and have great Time Management Skills.
