Job Description And Responsibilities The General Foreman, Tubular is responsible for maintaining safety, productivity, quality, and maintenance in the Tubular mill. This role oversees supervisors of shift (hourly) employees, ensuring that they are supplying high quality pipe to the finishing line.

  • Supervises employees including activities such as recruitment, coaching, mentoring, development and performance management.
  • Maintains a culture of safety and respect which align with Company values.
  • Builds strong teams who are effective problem solvers.
  • Oversees workforce compliance with safety, including ensuring the completion of risk assessments and providing input into safety program policies and procedures.
  • Actively participates in the operational health and safety plant steering committee.
  • Leverages people and resources to meet production deadlines and requirements.
  • Oversees the production quality assurance program and ensures compliance with the American Petroleum Institute (API).
  • Ensures departmental metrics are met daily (safety, quality, productivity, and cost).
  • Ensure appropriate weekly labour schedule to meet production deadlines and requirements.
  • Administers budgets (e.gs consumables, tooling, overtime, headcount).
  • Ensures equipment is maintained, including collaborating with maintenance to identify potential failures and maintaining the preventive maintenance program.
  • Builds and executes a production plan based on customer needs while ensuring customers’ needs are consistently met, with the goal of 100% on-time, first deliveries.
  • Authorize payroll payments via the Kronos system.
  • Liaises with Quality Assurance (QA) management to handle incoming inspection issues and field investigation issues related to pipe production.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Post Secondary training in a related field or a combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of Supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized.
  • Experience ensuring production and quality in an industrial setting is highly desirable.
  • Experience in tubular welding and coating is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated safety mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to respectfully build and maintain effective working relationships and create a collaborative atmosphere through positive leadership and a team approach.
  • Ability to establish and lead a culture of safety.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
