We are looking for a Sr Electrical Engineer to join our Distribution Engineering team. Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager you will join a team of professionals at our Truro location.
Key Elements Of This Role Include
- Reviewing overhead and underground customer and capital design and provide support to planners as needed.
- Providing Technical Support for the operation and maintenance of NSPI’s systems by ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with NSPI’s policies, standards and work methods, thereby providing a consistent, safe and cost-effective environment.
- Developing and implementing engineering analysis to ensure the safe and cost-effective provision of electrical service for customers and employees, by providing consistent analysis and interpretation of NSPI’s Rates and Regulations.
- Responsible for the operation of the Distribution system in accordance with NSPI’s Engineering practices and Standard Protection Code.
- Performing project management of significant customer work and be available to assist with outage restoration and emergency storm response.

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Full membership or eligible for membership in Engineers NS
- A minimum of 5 years relevant experience is required. Experience in electric utility operations is a definite asset. Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and equipment also considered an asset.
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills as well as strong computer skills
- Demonstrated commitment to personal development
- Willingness to provide after-hours consultation and emergency power restoration work.

About Nova Scotia Power
We provide 95 per cent of the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in Nova Scotia, and serve over 500,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers across the province.
Our 1,700 dedicated, safety-focused employees help manage $5 billion worth of generation, transmission and distribution assets and produce more than 10,000 gigawatt hours of electricity each year.
We use a fuel mix including hydro, tidal, wind, coal, oil, biomass and natural gas to generate electricity. Our facilities can generate as much as 2,453 megawatts of electricity that is delivered across 32,000 km of transmission and distribution lines throughout Nova Scotia.
