We are currently hiring a Field Service Lead Technician to join our growing team!

Ideally you are an automotive, heavy equipment, truck and coach, or power lift truck technician, or are enrolled in a motive power program. Candidates with similar mechanical experience are also considered for this role. You are a results-orientated self-starter and team player, with strong communication and customer service skills.

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for driving to customers locations and troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing both Company and competitor’s lift trucks and other equipment. Assists Field Service Manager with training and monitoring Field Service Technicians. This position reports to the Field Service Manager (FSM).
POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Travel to customer locations and inspect service and planned maintenance work performed by Field Service Technicians in collaboration with FSM.
- Train, coach, and motivate Field Service Technicians with support from FSM.
- Assist in technical situations as required by customers and Field Service Technicians.
- Perform spot inspections to ensure Field Service Technicians are maintaining good customer relations, are following paperwork procedures, are maintaining cleanliness and organization of service van, and have proper tools. Report the results as needed to FSM.
- Communicate information to technicians and branch management as appropriate.
- Work with the technicians & FSM to achieve PM completion target of the zone.
- Conduct Van Audits of technicians on team with support from FSM.
- Conduct Tech safety observations (TSO) every 6 months with the help of FSM for all technicians in the zone.
- Conduct PM audits every 6 months for all technicians with the support of FSM in the zone.
- Perform pre-delivery inspections, lay down trucks, and install trucks as needed. Communicate customer satisfaction information and leads to the appropriate personnel.
- Help FSM in preparation for and conducting of the zone meeting.
- Be part of Tech Connects when requested/possible with the FSM.
- Be part of Technician Interviews as needed.
- Conduct Timecard Audits, and GPS audits as needed.
- Communicate daily with Field Service Manager, or Customer Care Team to determine work schedule.
- Travel to customer locations. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Crown and all other makes of lift trucks and other equipment. Perform safety and operational tests.
- Confer with customer and review recommended repairs. Estimate or quote repair costs.
- Coordinate technicians for new truck installations and major repairs to ensure efficient and safe practices are followed.
- Place parts orders and complete necessary repair paperwork.
- Ensure utilization and PM goals are completed.
- Keep van clean with items properly labeled and organized.
- Perform minor repairs to the van such as replacing windshield wipers. Service the van by having the oil changed, tire pressure checked, etc.
- Notify management about van maintenance needs and van incidents. Maintain all required safety equipment supplied with van.
- Maintain accurate van parts inventory levels in compliance with Branch Guidelines.
- Pick up parts and replenish van inventory.
- Complete all paperwork as required.
- Complete all training as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOW HOW & EXPERIENCE
- High-school diploma.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
- Computer skills and working knowledge of Excel and Word programs.
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Safety-focused self-starter who takes pride in a job well done.
- Prior company experience as a Field Service Technician at Independent Performer Level.
- Technical and repair knowledge is necessary.
