As the Application Analyst in the Technology Systems and Improvements team, you will be responsible for supporting various transit technologies such as scheduling systems, automatic passenger counter system, fare payment system, and other web and mobile applications. You will play a key customer service and technology support role by supporting the Calgary Transit technology users. You will bridge business operations and Information Technology (IT) by analyzing business requirements, support application upgrades, developing reports, and providing user training and documentation. Primary duties include:

  • Support resolution of operational issues, support upgrades, monitor Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance, deliver user training and documentation.
  • Assist and provide recommendations through business needs evaluation, technical researching for ongoing information system planning, development and budget processes.
  • Support business unit coordination and response for planned and unplanned outage of any service critical technologies under the portfolio.
  • Participate in IT-related projects as business and technical expert, conduct analysis, support testing and implementation, and provide recommendations.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners to gather and clarify current and future business processes and requirements. Assist on documentation of business cases, process diagrams and internal business unit resource planning.
  • Review, research and test new solutions with information retrieved from the vendor, IT and other user groups. Participate in implementation and test efforts through all phases of the project.
  • Deliver demonstrations and presentations to technology system users.
  • Support application enhancements, data integrations, reporting solutions, and vendor customizations aligned with business needs.
  • Coordinate application and system upgrade, manage testing and user acceptance, and communicate changes to users.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, evaluate emerging technologies, and recommend solutions to improve business efficiency.

Qualifications

  • A completed 2-year diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or another related field with at least 5 years of experience in application development and support, data management and analysis, project management, customer service, and experience in a large organization; OR
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another related field with at least 3 years of experience in application development and support, data management and analysis, project management, customer service and experience in a large organization.
  • Technical training in Structured Query Language (SQL) is an asset.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with transit applications such as scheduling systems, real time information systems, automatic passenger counter system, fare payment system, web and mobile applications, and Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) modelling of operations workflows will be considered assets.
  • You will have a customer service focus, the ability to develop trusted relationships, and the ability to work strategically as well as operationally.

Pre-employment Requirements

Workstyle

  • This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Pay Grade 11 $46.21 - 61.78 per hour

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.

Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
