Responsibilities As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing electrical systems for deployable, self-sustaining military shelters that house mission-critical telecommunications equipment. Your responsibilities will include: Design the electrical architecture and power distribution systems for autonomous military shelters, including voltage conversion and power management (440V to 120V). Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and integration drawings using AutoCAD Electrical Define cable routing, cable lengths, connector selection, and electrical component sourcing to ensure robust and maintainable installations. Integrate telecommunications, power, and control equipment within the shelters while meeting military and operational requirements. Support instrumentation integration, test setup development, and validation activities to ensure system performance and reliability. Collaborate closely with mechanical engineering and manufacturing teams to optimize system integration and support production activities. Ensure all designs comply with applicable electrical, safety, environmental, and defense-related requirements and standards
Requirements Must-Haves 3–5 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in defense or similar high-reliability environments. Proven experience in electrical distribution systems and power management. Hands-on troubleshooting skills and exposure to production environments. Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and relevant standards. Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. Nice-to-Haves Experience with MIL standards and connectors for defense applications. 3D modeling capabilities using Autodesk Inventor. Prior experience working on defense projects. Tools & Certifications AutoCAD Electrical (mandatory). Autodesk Inventor (nice to have). Knowledge of IEC/MIL standards and experience in an ISO 9000 environment. Soft Skills Ability to work with minimal supervision. Collaborative mindset for working in multidisciplinary teams. Experience in shop floor environments.
