About the role

Job Summary

As a Business Development Lead on the Growth Team, you will play a pivotal leadership role in driving strategic growth and pipeline development. You will oversee a high-performing team of Business Development Managers and work closely with sector leaders, sales executives, and functional teams.

Now, if you were to come on board as our Business Development Lead, we’d ask you to do the following for us:

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Business Development Managers (BDMs) in executing strategic outreach campaigns.
  • Set and monitor KPIs to ensure team performance aligns with Growth Team objectives.
  • Provide regular coaching, training, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, initiative, and accountability.
  • Partner with the Director of Business Strategy & Analytics to shape and evolve the business development strategy, including segmentation, targeting, and outreach tactics.
  • Align campaign strategies with Sales Directors and VPs.
  • Oversee the development and iteration of call/email scripts and outreach content.
  • Own the team’s CRM best practices. Lead the reporting process for all business development metrics.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and client news to proactively inform team strategies.
  • Lead research initiatives on emerging sectors.
  • Support attendance and planning for tradeshows, conferences, and key networking events.

Think you have what it takes to be our Business Development Lead? We’re committed to hiring the best talent for the role. Here’s how we’ll know you’ll be successful in the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field required; advanced degree an asset.
  • 5+ years in Business Development or Sales, with at least 2 years in a people leadership role.
  • Proven experience in managing high-performing business development teams.
  • Strong understanding of CRM systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics) and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and presentation skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with a passion for process improvement and scalable growth.
  • Industry experience (contract food services or B2B sales) is highly desirable.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is preferred.
