The Royal Saskatchewan Museum is looking for an innovative and creative person to fill a 7 month term position of Exhibit Technician 2. Working with the Conservator and the Exhibits Team the position will be responsible for maintaining the quality of the exhibit experience, with special emphasis on keeping the open-air dioramas pristine and following all conservation and museum protocols while assuring all the electronics are operational and running.
The position will be responsible for developing, maintaining and following maintenance schedules. The position will be part of the Exhibit Team, and as such will help in the development and construction of new and existing exhibits. The position may have variable hours to meet exhibit opening time lines, and may require some travelling, assisting in setting up exhibits in other locales. Experience in dealing with hazardous products and delicate museum specimens will be an asset as well as being personal with the public. The position is very physical, with some heavy lifting.
The position requires formal or experiential knowledge of museum protocols and standards, exhibit design and experience in scheduling projects. Typically, this would be obtained from a Museum Studies degree or a Fine Arts degree (BFA) or combination of interest, experience and alternate education.
