By integrating directly into clients’ operations, Smart Sites enables organizations to function with the capabilities of a fully developed management team while minimizing overhead. Role Description The HSE Manager is a part-time, hybrid role based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada, with some work-from-home flexibility. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental programs that align with regulatory requirements and client standards. Day-to-day tasks include conducting site inspections, hazard assessments, and audits; preparing reports and recommendations; and supporting incident and accident investigations. The HSE Manager will deliver training sessions to site staff and supervisors, assist in the development of safety policies and procedures, and provide guidance on occupational health practices. The role also involves collaborating with project teams and client leadership to promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement in HSE performance. Qualifications Strong Health & Safety and Occupational Health knowledge, with experience applying these principles in construction or infrastructure environments. Expertise in Environment Health and Safety (EHS) management, including regulatory compliance and implementation of best practices. Demonstrated ability in Accident Investigation, incident reporting, and root cause analysis. Experience designing and delivering Training programs related to health, safety, and environmental practices. Relevant post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CRSP, CHSC) are an asset. Knowledge of Canadian and Ontario health and safety legislation and construction industry standards. Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence safety culture across diverse teams. Experience leading COR2020 & ISO 45001 Audits required Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple client priorities, and travel within the Greater Toronto Area as required.
