Your Opportunity:
Foothills Medical Centre is seeking a Senior Flow Coordinator to support safe, efficient, and effective patient flow. Acting as a key operational leader, this role provides real time clinical and system oversight, supports decision making during periods of high demand, and fosters collaboration across interdisciplinary teams. Reporting to site leadership, the Senior Flow Coordinator works collaboratively with senior leadership, site leadership, clinical teams, admitting, RAAPID, and regional hospital partners to optimize patient movement, access, and capacity management. This leadership role is integral to ensuring timely access to care, effective system coordination, and alignment with zone and provincial patient flow priorities. This position works primarily 7.75 hour weekdays, 11.08 hour weekends.
Description:
The Senior Flow Coordinator is responsible and accountable for coordinating and facilitating patient flow across clinical areas to support timely admissions, transfers, and discharges. The Senior Flow Coordinator will work closely with senior leadership, site leadership, staff, admitting, bed placement, and interdisciplinary teams. The Senior Flow Coordinator leads and supports escalation processes, ensuring timely communication, prioritization, and resolution of site wide flow and capacity pressures. The Senior Flow Coordinator will be expected to communicate clearly and effectively with clinical teams, leaders, and operational partners and contribute to a culture of patient safety, quality care, and continuous improvement. This position collaborates with site and senior leadership to support zone and provincial patient flow strategies, contributing to organizational goals and performance metrics.
Classification: Senior Coordinator Union: Exempt Unit and Program: Bed Placement Coordination Primary Location: Foothills Medical Centre Location Details: As Per Location Negotiable Location: Within Calgary Zone Temporary Employee Class: Temp F/T Benefits FTE: 0.80 Posting End Date: 15-JUL-2026 Date Available: 27-JUL-2026 Temporary End Date: 27-JUL-2027 Hours per Shift: 7.75, 11.08 Length of Shift in weeks: 12 Shifts per cycle: 45 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $41.16 Maximum Salary: $70.58 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required and active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in an acute care facility with 3 years of recent leadership experience as a charge nurse/nurse clinician.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated understanding of patient flow and hospital operations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, judgment and decision-making skills. Ability to develop and maintain personal relationships, strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize workload and work in a fast paced, dynamic work environment. Demonstrates situational leadership in high pressure and rapidly changing environments, balancing system priorities with patient centered care. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-pressure environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in Connect Care. Knowledge of AHS policies, procedures and patient flow processes.
