Black Diamond Group’s CEO Office has a full-time position for a Corporate Development Analyst.
This role is hybrid - in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home.
Reporting to the Chairman and CEO, the Financial Analyst will work as a member of the Strategic Initiatives, M&A team which is responsible for the assessment, research, and analysis of strategic opportunities for the Company and transaction support to the CEO and senior executive team including but not limited to financial due diligence, related to acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships, or financial transactions. As well the team provides support for integration of acquisitions, complicated internal and cross border transactions, and general investing activities. The individual will also work alongside colleagues in developing and maintaining analysis, financial models, and macro-economic research to support capital allocation and business planning decisions of the CEO.
This individual will be required to generate accurate and sophisticated research reports inclusive of detailed financial analysis across a broad number of industries and jurisdictions.
The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with excellent financial analysis skills, including the ability to complete comprehensive research, build financial models and communicate findings of their work to executives. They will be self-motivated and willing to work in a fast-paced high performance environment which often requires long hours and tight deadlines. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, passion, a love of business, and a strong understanding of financial analysis and valuation modelling.
Responsibilities
- Review teasers and Confidential Information Memorandums to assess suitability of opportunities presented to the Company;
- Under the direction of the CEO and Senior Financial Analyst perform market research to assist in identifying and/or assessing:

- Acquisition or greenfield investment opportunities in Canada, USA or Australia;
- Build and/or maintain financial models:
-
- Related to specific opportunities and long-term acquisition targets;
- To assist management with long range strategic planning.
- Coordinate key aspects of M&A due diligence:
-
- Financial due diligence and modelling
- Key document review including contracts, employment, real estate etc
- Generate and manage master asset lists and coordinate asset inspection process;
- Key issue identification and resolution coordination;
- Coordinate extended due diligence team both internal and through external advisors and maintain document control process inclusive of data room management etc
- Coordinate key aspects of integration:

- Work with commercial and cross-platform leaders to ensure integration plan is developed and followed post-acquisition;
- Assist in reporting on completed activities and the success versus targets and objectives of a transaction in periods following acquisition. The analyst may be required to travel to execute the scope of the role.
Qualifications

2-5 years of experience related to finance, economics, or similar;
-
Superior analytical, quantitative and communication skills (i.e. financial and data analysis, financial modeling, research, creating presentation/reports, presentation skills, and summarization);

Degree in Commerce, Economics, or other business equivalent with a proven academic track record;
-
Enrolment in the CFA Charter program with at least 1st level completed, CBV or CPA programs would be considered as equivalents
-
Demonstrated strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
-
A strong work ethic and willingness to work irregular hours as per project demands;
-
Work experience in a similar role is beneficial, with preference given to candidates having corporate development, investor relations, corporate communications, advisory or valuation experience;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
-
Ability to work in a team environment and participate in cross functional work teams;
-
The ability to work within a fast-paced, demanding and dynamic team environment.
