Position Summary
Become an adjunct professor and play a pivotal role in shaping the emerging practitioners in your field!
The College of Professional Studies is seeking adjunct professors who will advance our commitment to inclusive excellence and promote our core values: honor the individual, champion learning, transform lives, work together, and pursue excellence. The application process for this role will include a discussion of teaching expectations and appointment to a rank within the Adjunct Professorial Series.
Once you are hired, you can expect a comprehensive onboarding process and ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice. Our 10-week courses are offered in multiple formats, including asynchronous online, synchronous online, or hybrid (50% on campus and 50% online). College of Professional Studies uses Canvas as the learning management system (LMS) for all course delivery modes.

Essential Functions
Adjunct Professors at the College of Professional Studies are subject matter experts in their field and integrate professionally relevant, diverse examples into their teaching and discussions. They adhere to College of Professional Studies Faculty Teaching Expectations and meet the following expectations:
- Prepare course container for the quarter
- Provide subject matter expertise
- Maintain regular and consistent instructor presence in your course
- Provide specific, relevant, and timely feedback
- Foster an engaged and inclusive learning environment
- Model and uphold academic standards
- Contribute to communities of practice for curriculum development and innovation
- Engage in other types of academic service and scholarship
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree and industry experience relevant to the field you are applying to teach.
- Successful teaching/facilitation experience with adults or completion of an education/training program on adult learning.
- Experience using learning management systems (LMS) and instructional technologies to support online teaching and student engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Terminal degree in related field or a terminal degree and industry experience.
- Recognition of professional accomplishment in an area of expertise related to course or courses offered within the program you are applying to teach.
- Publication or professional presentations in the program related field.
- Licensing and/or certification by professional organizations.
- Completion of an education or training program on adult learning or internship/mentorship that addresses adult learning principles and practices.
Work Schedule
While the University's administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas.

Course Rate
Adjunct Professors are compensated based on their assigned rank:
Adjunct Assistant Professor: $4,100/course
Adjunct Associate Professor: $5,100/course
Adjunct Professor (Full): $7,200/course
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
