Scale House Labourer
About the role
Job Purpose To support the Scalers in maintaining the quality control of incoming logs, controlling the log yard and related inventory. To ensure compliance of appropriate rules and regulations by truck drivers delivering logs to LP facilities.
In This Position You Will Have The Opportunity To Under the guidance of the Scaler, assist Scale House Team to:
- Ensure accurate weighing of log trucks as they arrive and as they leave.
- Scale the logs in the samples
- Ensure compliance with appropriate rules and regulations, ensuring drivers have appropriate licenses and certificates.
- Inspect incoming logs to ensure compliance with the government and LP log quality standards; coordinate with Forest Resources when standards are not met.
- Use and run the scaling software
- Participate in the log yard inventory
- Coordinate work with off-loaders and truck drivers to ensure accurate inventory records are maintained.
- Maintain log yard in an organized manner to ensure optimum inventory capacity.
- Supervise the slashing of the logs to optimize the yield
- Prepare daily and weekly reports.
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What do I need to be successful? Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Strong math skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate a computer and supporting software.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in a safety-sensitive industrial working environment
Education
- High school diploma required.
- Current, valid driver's license.
Work Environment
- Plant or outdoor environment.
