Position Summary University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Project Manager in our Planning Department.
As an integral member of the Facilities Management, Planning, Redevelopment and Operations (FM-PRO) department and under the direction of the Manager, Project Planning, the PROJECT MANAGER, PROJECT PLANNING takes a leadership role in the management, organization and orchestration of all aspects of planning for renovation projects within their portfolio. The successful candidate will work closely with the FM-PRO Leadership, UHN Executive Project Sponsors and Staff to understand and plan for key capital project initiatives as prioritized by the organization.
Duties
- Lead and drive the planning phase of renovation projects, including development and approval of project scope, schedules, and budgets.
- Develop and implement strategies to manage user group planning processes effectively.
- Act as the primary liaison between UHN stakeholders and consultant teams to ensure efficient and accurate information exchange.
- Perform financial management activities, including project budgeting, cost tracking, and cash flow forecasting.
- Prepare, review, and maintain project documentation, including contracts.
- Hire and supervise consultants, ensuring alignment with project objectives. Negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with consultants.
- Review and perform quality control of design documents submitted by consultants.
- Develop and implement strategies for risk mitigation and resolution throughout the planning phase.
- Compile and archive project documentation at the end of the planning phase, including documentation of lessons learned.
- Collaborate with the Redevelopment team to ensure smooth handover from planning to implementation.
- Perform administrative tasks to support efficient departmental operations.
- Execute cross-functional responsibilities as assigned.
- Undertake other duties consistent with the role as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Architecture, Engineering, Design Technology, or an equivalent recognized discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in architectural, engineering, or project management within the health or public sector, or Healthcare program and strategic project management.
- Proven ability to coordinate and facilitate multi-stakeholder meetings, including preparing agendas, presentation materials, and meeting minutes.
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency in project management tools.
- Knowledge of building codes and standards applicable to acute healthcare environments (asset).
- Familiarity with OAA and CCDC contract frameworks (asset).
- PMP certification (asset).
- Experience with Ministry of Health (MOH) Capital Planning processes (highly desirable).
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong time management and organizational abilities, including task prioritization.
- Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to produce high-quality reports and meet strict deadlines.
