ABOUT OUR CLIENT, THE TEAM, AND ROLE OVERVIEW
Our client is a leader in the real estate industry in Quebec. They are a well-recognized real estate management company that, for over 30 years, has been part of the urban landscape through their major projects and innovative vision.
This company is seeking a Legal Counsel with 5 years’ experience that will have a wide range of responsibilities, from leasing to contracts, litigation, acquisitions, financings, etc. The ideal person for the role will be independent, motivated, and ready to join a stimulating work environment where your success is top of mind.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial lease agreements (retail, office, industrial).
- Advise internal stakeholders and clients on lease renewals, terminations, subleases, and assignments.
- Ensure compliance with applicable real estate and leasing laws and regulations.
- Manage lease-related disputes and support resolution strategies.
- Coordinate with property managers, brokers, and external counsel as needed.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including service agreements, supply agreements, and NDAs.
- Support corporate transactions such as acquisitions and dispositions, including due diligence and documentation.
- Provide legal advice on construction projects, including familiarity with CCDC contracts.
- Assist with financing transactions, including reviewing loan agreements and security documentation.
- Participate in litigation management, including liaising with external counsel and supporting internal case strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Membership in good standing with the Bar of Quebec.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant legal experience, with a strong focus on commercial leasing and general commercial law, financing.
- Experience with CCDC contracts is an asset.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingualism (French and English).
