**Business Analyst (11 Month Contract)
Location: New Westminster, BC / Hybrid
Staffing Placement Opportunity** Project Description And Background The successful candidate will complement a team of staff and contract resources within the Business Technology Services (BTS) department, which oversees and maintains various software assets crucial to business continuity. These assets are essential for sustaining uninterrupted operations.
The Software Asset Renewal Program is a recurring IT initiative that ensures technology assets are proactively managed throughout their lifecycle. The 2025 program includes the upgrade of multiple identified technology assets.
The Business Analyst’s primary assignment is to provide business analysis support across various projects under this program. The role will involve close collaboration with BTS teams and other program stakeholders across the organization. Responsibilities may also extend to project coordination, workshop facilitation, communications, and training delivery.
SERVICES Reporting to a Senior Project Manager within the BTS Project Management Office (PMO), the candidate will collaborate with senior staff, functional and technical teams, and contractors. The Business Analyst will provide comprehensive, end-to-end business analysis services across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and project goals.
Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Business Needs Analysis – Identify and articulate business problems, opportunities, risks, assumptions, and desired outcomes. Provide input into business case development and strategic planning.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Elicitation - Gather, interpret, and analyze requirements through workshops, interviews, document reviews, and other techniques.
- Requirements Documentation & Validation - Develop and maintain business, functional, and non-functional requirements, ensuring stakeholder consensus and approval.
- Vendor and Third-Party Coordination - Collaborate with external vendors to align on project scope, deliverables, and timelines. Support contract and performance oversight.
- Decision Support - Prepare briefing materials and analysis to support project decision-making processes.
- Project Management Support - Assist with work breakdown structures (WBS), risk and issue tracking, schedule monitoring, and project reporting.
- Testing & Quality Assurance - Develop test strategies, use cases, and coordinate UAT to validate requirements.
- Traceability & Compliance - Maintain a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) to ensure end-to-end alignment.
- Change Management & Communications - Contribute to change management plans, training materials, and support documentation.
- PMO Compliance - Adhere to PMO governance, methodologies, and reporting standards.
- Training Delivery - Support or deliver training to business users and system administrators.
- Issue Resolution & Facilitation - Act as a liaison between business and technical teams to clarify requirements and resolve conflicts.
- Project Documentation Management - Maintain accurate, version-controlled project documents, including business cases, process maps, meeting records, test plans, training guides, and operational handover documentation.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE To Be Considered, The Candidate Should Demonstrate The Following
- Experience handling software upgrades (Windows and SQL Server preferred)
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Familiarity with both Waterfall and Agile IT project methodologies
- Bachelor’s degree with formal Business Analyst training
- 5+ years of business analysis experience in IT environments
- Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills
- Proven ability to gather, analyze, and consolidate information from varied sources
- Experience collaborating with technical leads to translate requirements into system specifications
- Proficiency with MS Office tools, including Microsoft Visio
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
