About The Role Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this Senior Manager level role is responsible for accurate, timely, and compliant corporate financial reporting. This role manages the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for global consolidated financial statements, maintains strong internal controls, and ensures adherence to GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
The Financial Controller leads the preparation of financial statements, supports financial statement audit and tax compliance, and drives improvements in financial processes and systems. Their hands-on approach ensures consistent application of accounting policies across the organization and serves as the primary liaison with external auditors during annual financial statement audits.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the Finance leadership team, providing financial and strategic oversight of the accounting and reporting functions, including Accounts Payable, General Ledger for our North American and International entities, Financial Reporting, and Internal Controls.
- Act as a hands-on leader, actively participating in complex accounting tasks while coaching and mentoring team members to build technical expertise.
- Provide oversight and hands-on support to the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with US GAAP and internal policies.
- Maintain and continuously improve financial processes, policies, and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy across accounting operations while considering the needs of both external and internal stakeholders.
- Lead the preparation of financial statements, manage internal and external audits, and ensure timely completion of audit committee materials and reporting requirements.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, international accounting advisors, and other stakeholders to maintain positive and productive partnerships.
- Ensure robust internal controls over financial reporting are documented, tested, and maintained while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Drive adherence to financial policies and procedures across global operations, ensuring consistency and accountability.
- Monitor and optimize working capital through collaboration with the credit management and FP&A team
- Mentor and provide ongoing performance management, goal setting, and professional development for the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial consistency and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Promote and provide constructive feedback and guidance to all members of the team, enabling effective collaboration across all areas and break down silos
- Perform other duties as required to support the finance function and organizational priorities.
What We’re Looking For
- CPA designation required, with proven strong technical accounting expertise.
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Public accounting firm experience (Big Four or equivalent), demonstrating strong technical expertise and client-facing focus, ideally with international experience.
- Proven expertise in managing financial operations within complex, multi-entity and multi-jurisdictional environments (North America and International), ensuring compliance and efficiency in the reporting function.
- Proven ability to lead and coach a team while actively contributing to day-to-day accounting operations.
- Background in SaaS and technology-driven business models, including subscription-based revenue recognition is an asset
- Experience in handling multi-element product offerings, with respect to revenue allocation, bundled pricing strategies, and integrated service portfolios.
- Strong background in financial reporting and consolidation under US GAAP and IFRS.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and compliance frameworks.
Advanced knowledge of financial systems including Microsoft Dynamics 365, Vena and other ERP as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing materials for senior leadership and boards.
